Welcome to Your Independence

Hello and welcome! My name is Dee, and I’m so glad you’re here.

I created Your Independence as a space of support, encouragement, and empowerment for senior citizens and individuals with disabilities who are navigating the challenges of daily life in a world that often moves too fast and forgets to look back.

🌟 Why I Started This Blog

Over the years in my profession,  I’ve seen how difficult it can be for older adults and people with disabilities to find the resources, tools, and community they need to live safely and independently. I’ve also seen how technology, while powerful, can feel overwhelming or out of reach for many.

But I believe in this truth:
We are not helpless. We are not invisible. We are resilient.

This blog is my way of helping others reclaim their independence—one tool, one tip, and one story at a time.

💬 A Word About Family and Community

In generations past, we often lived in close-knit families where support was just a room away. But today, many of us find ourselves more isolated—physically, emotionally, and digitally. That’s why it’s more important than ever to build new kinds of community, and to use every tool available to stay connected, safe, and strong.

💡 Let’s Learn and Grow Together

Whether you’re here to learn how to install a grab bar, find a free ramp program, or just feel a little less alone—you’re in the right place. This blog is for you. And together, we’ll explore how to make life not just manageable, but meaningful.

Thank you for being here.
Let’s take the next step—toward your independence.
